What we do

Weekly or bi-weekly cuts at the height your grass actually wants — left longer through the heat of July, taken down heading into fall. We alternate direction each visit so the turf doesn't lay over and rut, and keep the blades sharp so the grass gets cut clean instead of torn. Trimming and edging come with every mow.
The mower can't reach everything. We string trim around fences, posts, trees, and foundations, then cut a clean line along walks and driveways so the lawn stops creeping out over the concrete. Every hard surface gets blown off before we leave — nothing left on your driveway or out in the street.
South Dakota winters leave a mess behind. In spring we clear out matted leaves, dead growth, and whatever blew in over the winter so the lawn greens up evenly instead of in patches. In fall we get the leaves off before they mat down and smother the grass under snow. Beds cleared at the same time, everything hauled away.
Thatch is the dead layer that builds up between the green grass and the soil. Once it gets thick, water sits on top instead of soaking in and the lawn thins out. We rake it out and haul it off — best done in spring once the ground has dried enough to work. Most lawns want it every couple of years.
Fresh mulch, bed edges re-cut, and the weeds pulled out. A clean, defined line between lawn and mulch does more for how a yard looks than almost anything else on this list, and a proper edge keeps the grass from creeping back into the beds all summer.
